We are excited to share a major victory for the disability community in Prince George’s County.

As part of the County’s approved budget, Prince George’s County has increased funding for the Direct Support Professional (DSP) Supplement by $2.4 million, raising the County’s total investment from approximately $4.5 million to $6.9 million.

​

This significant achievement reflects the power of collective advocacy. Throughout the budget process, providers, DSPs, self-advocates, family members, and community partners came together to highlight the essential role DSPs play in supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through testimony, outreach, and ongoing engagement with County leaders, advocates demonstrated the critical need to invest in and strengthen the DSP workforce. See Video Here

We extend our sincere gratitude to the County Executive and the Prince George’s County Council for recognizing the importance of sustaining and growing the DSP workforce. Their commitment to increasing the DSP Supplement will help support the dedicated professionals who provide vital services and supports throughout our community.
